Summer travel is top of mind and, this year, we are looking to a few of our favorite books for inspiration. The Talented Mr. Ripley transports us to the cobbled and sun-soaked streets of Ischia; One Hundred Years of Solitude paints a picture of Colombia’s quaint, colorful villages; and The Great Gatsby captures the incredible beaches and homes on Long Island.

Below, the Tory Daily editors have selected three outfits inspired by these iconic novels and the picturesque destinations where they are set.

Packing for Ischia: A pair of oversized sunglasses are an island essential. Lightweight layers like this cashmere shrug are perfect for cooler evenings — especially styled with barely-there tops and spectacularly versatile midi skirts. Comfortable slides and a roomy tote are made for beach days and exploring local markets.

Packing for Colombia: Colombia calls for bold colors, like this red handbag and matching strappy sandals. A vibrant cotton dress can be worn day or night, just add statement jewelry for a more elevated look. Retro cat-eye sunglasses are a must this close to the Equator.

Packing for Long Island: For a long weekend out east, we are leaning into easy pieces in unexpected neutrals. Style this relaxed lilac dress over a floral-print bikini in the same hue. Chic white lace-up sandals will go with everything, and, when it comes to basket totes and earrings, we say the bigger the better.
