A beach is a beach is a beach, right? Sand, sun, surf? Not exactly, as Juliette Charvet shows Tory Daily. The photographer — whose work is represented by New York’s Clic gallery — travels around the world, from Death Valley to the Far East, in search of the perfect snapshot and has done the rounds at one beach paradise after another: Lido, Santa Monica, St. Barts… and they’re all individual in their own way, as you can see from her stunning photos and portfolio. Here, she shares her favorites plus, for the would-be visitor, tips on the must-see and must-do at each locale.

ST. BARTS, FRENCH WEST INDIES
I love St. Barts off season, far from the celebrities and luxurious yachts. It is a jungle paradise, a full immersion into nature. The landscape on the Côte Sauvage, on the other side of the island, is completely undomesticated and so different from the rest of St Barts. All the beaches are stunning.

My recommendations: Walk on Gouverneur Beach early in the morning. Drink fresh cocktail juice at the beach bar of Hotel Isle de France, at Flamands. For a bit a culture and great finds, visit Clic Gallery in Gustavia, which features beautiful photos, photography books and lots of great clothes, jewelry, bags, etc.

AMALFI COAST, ITALY
Like St. Barts, the Amalfi Coast can easily be a cliché. It is often difficult to picture it without the hordes of tourists and honeymooners from all around the world. But in May/June or September/October, the Coast is less crowded and is as beautiful as during the busy months of summer. The mix of mountain and sea makes it really unique. Positano, in particular, is a true gem and definitely has my heart. Ravello, in an different way, is a phenomenal place as well.

My recommendations: Everything in Positano… Go to La Botteguccia da Gianni to have your own pair of sandals made. Have lunch at the mythical restaurant, Da Adolfo, on the beach. Walk from the top of Positano to Spiaggia del Fornillo, one of the most spectacular hikes straight from the mountains to the sea. Enjoy an aperitivo and admire the view at Palazzo Avino in Ravello.

HARBOUR ISLAND, BAHAMAS
I recently visited Harbour Island with my family and was amazed by its utter simplicity and peacefulness. It is a very quiet, natural and colorful island, with a real untouched beauty. It’s a perfect escape after a long winter, a great place to recharge.

My recommendations: Circulate the island by golf cart. Go to Sip Sip for lunch, The Landing for drinks at sunset and The Dunmore for dinner. Enjoy long hours at Pink Sands Beach, and swim in the pastel blue water.

BELLE-ÎLE-EN-MER, FRANCE
Belle-Île is a very special place to me as I went there every single year since I was born. The ferry out to the island is a 45-minute ride and it feels like you are leaving everything behind you and can enjoy a fresh start. The beauty of the island is breathtaking. The landscape changes dramatically, leaving you speechless with every turn in the road. You can go from the countryside to the wild sea in a heartbeat.

My recommendations: Watch the sunset with a glass of white wine on top of the cliffs off the island’s wild side. Eat the best crepes ever at Les Embruns in Sauzon harbor. I love to spend a full day with my family on a secret remote beach next to my house. I could go on forever…
